( Xavier P.) Where and when was he born ?

( Guillaume G.) He was born in our city, Castres, on September 3rd, 1859.

( Laureen M. ) He had a brother, Louis.

(Priscilla V. ) They lived in a farm « La Fédial », in Castres.

(Victoria L. ) Where did he go to school ?

(Yannis P.) He was a pupil in our school !

(Thibaut S.) He was very bright !

( Eleonore G. ) He worked hard from 1878 to 1881 and he graduated .

( Inès D.) What did he do in his life ?

( Helena V.) First, he became a teacher and a local representative.

( Stella B. ) He was , indeed a great miners ’ supporter.

( Julie M. ) After that, he became a journalist  : He started a newspaper «  L’ Humanité «  in 1904 !

(Alexandre M.) From 1895, he travelled a lot : London, Stuttgart (in Germany), Copenhagen (in Denmark ), and he also went to South America !

( Zaki S. ) He was the most famous speaker of his time !

( Abygaëlle P.) He wanted Peace in the world : He didn’t want the War…

( Paul M.) Did he marry ?

(Manon P.) Did he have any children ?

( Sarah M.) Yes ! He married Louise Bois, in June 1886 and they had two children.

( Mathilde L.) Their daughter, Madeleine was born on September 19th, 1889 and their son, Paul Louis, on August 27th, 1898.

( Naomi M. ) He was ever so happy to be a father of two !!

( Laurent M.) But, what was he like ?

( Hugo F.) Well, he was tall, with a beard. He had a top-hat and a tailcoat. He was in !

( Ludovic A.) Now, tell me, where, when and why did he die ?

( Marion G.) Finally, he was assassinated at the «  Café du Croissant «  in Paris, on July 31 st, 1914…so sad …

( Billel R. ) What happened the next day ?

( Carolane S.) The next day was the beginning of the First World War. ( WWI )

( Fanette C.) There were 8 million soldiers killed, you know …
